DIAC Conducted Seminars, Aided Foreign Workers And Employers

Immigration officers and staffs visited Kadina, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie and Whyalla and conducted a series of information seminars regarding sponsorship of employer to skilled workers. The seminar explained new laws, consequences and penalties to non-compliance of the existing laws which prohibits companies and organizations in employing and sponsoring unqualified workers.

A spokesman of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) stated that these series of seminars provided a preview of the changes which included information regarding SkillSelect. SkillSelect is an online service that allows Australian companies who have skilled foreign workers which holds a temporary skilled 457 visas to avail permanent residency in Australia. SkillSelect will give chance to potential employees to apply for a permanent residency and continue their careers in Australia.

According to the spokesman, their team provided a wide range of information regarding temporary or permanent visa options. The seminar discussed all the duties of the employers, companies and businesses to ensure that they are hiring eligible and qualified workers.

The seminars tackled the recently passed laws which covers civil penalties to illegal employment which were all introduced last July 1, 2012.
