Citizenship & Passport

One way to obtain citizenship is by descent. This type of visa is for applicants who were born outside Australia and one of his/her parents was an Australian citizen at the time of his or her birth. The applicant’s parent/s, who was an Australian citizen, must have spent at least two years in Australia.

Applicants ages 18 and over must have a report of good character. And applicants ages below 18 should be supported by a responsible parent.

Requirements for this kind of visa are:

  • Birth certificate
  • Passport
  • Good Character report/ NBI Clearance
  • Supporting documents – for responsible parent/s
    • Australian Birth certificate
    • Australian passport
    • School records
    • Employment records
    • Any document issued by the Australian government
