The leaders of the tourism industry have gathered in Canberra to discuss new strategies and discuss marketing in attracting more tourists from the most populace country – China. There have been a lot of Chinese tourists visiting the country, and it has helped Australia’s economy.
The conference aimed to increase the number of Chinese tourist by year 2020.
The Visitor Visa (subclass 600) has a stream for Chinese tourists: Approved Destination Status stream which is for organized tour groups holding a People’s Republic of China passport.
This stream was an arrangement between the Chinese Government and Australian Government. Established in 1999, in recognition of the increased interest of the Chinese people in visiting Australia.
